Jen finally found us a little sheltie female, and went and got her this morning. She is so tiny. Like a little fluffball. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dog with such a thick coat before. I am sure she will be beautiful when she is full grown. We don’t have the best track record with keeping animals for long, but this one isn’t going anywhere. I don’t care if she destroys the house and eats the tv stands, she is a keeper.

After all the fun I made of Jen and her Black Friday camp out from last year, I have to admit we had a lot of fun, especially considering how tired we were after 3 hours of driving to look at some puppies. We started a bit too early , and waited almost 3 hours before we saw any action. We had decided to raid Kohls for a steam cleaner, and her dad wanted us to pick him up a gps. People started showing up about an hour before Kohls opened, so we booked it to the door and a ton of people followed. Within the next 30 minutes the line to get in grew to an insane size, and people were all the way down to Gamestop which is about 4 stores down the sidewalk. There were some annoying people in line telling everyone where things were, a pretty noob idea imo. The woman behind us seemed to be losing her grasp on reality, bitch was weird as hell. I started to get a little nervous the more packed it got, I could just imagine one of us getting trampled, but everyone was pretty calm when the doors opened. We managed to grab everything we came for, and the clerk didn’t even check Jen’s I.D. when she used her parents card for the GPS lol. It would have been nice to have gotten a sweet deal on a new HDTV, but I plan for us to be a bit more prepared next year. Hopefully there will be some better deals next time, and we will be a bit more rested.
After a rough week our cat Chandler is finally starting to feel better. He has been fighting an upper respiratory infection, and got really bad, to the point where we weren’t sure if he was going to make it. He wouldn’t eat or drink, actually he still isnt drinking, but at least he is eating pretty good now. He is easily the skinniest cat I’ve ever seen. He looks like he has been taking some serious fat burner, but hopefully with his increase in appetite he will start putting some weight back on. I think this sickness has left him a bit spoiled too. He is always whining for one of us to pick him up. Now if we can just get him to drink some water!
Our little girl has finally started to say a few more words, and it is the cutest thing ever. Especially when she says “Cracker”. It’s crazy how fast she is growing. We are so excited that she is making progress in her speach. Gavin took much longer to start talking, and continues to struggle with his comprehension, tho he is still improving too. We were surprised that even some harder words we tried to get her to say as a joke, she actually came pretty close to saying. Tho our fun was soon ruined when they came to clean the patios and we had to break out the patio furniture covers.
Chewie is doing really well after his neuter and declaw, and is back to bouncing around the house again. I have never been much of a cat person, and always preferred dogs, but he has really grown on me. He is a lot like a little dog. He follows us around everywhere, and is always nearby. My biggest problem with cats has always been the scratching, but we don’t have to worry about that now. We kept his back claws tho, as there really is no need to remove those. I still miss Naobi, but having the little furball bouncing around is really nice. We just need to find the correct bathroom lighting for him in his office.
For a couple weeks now its been in the back of my mind that Naobi was a bit cooped up, especially for her size. I tried to let her run around as much as possible, but with two kids, one of whom does nothing but irritate her (which irritates me), its a lot on the nerves sometimes. We arent big park people, and she really only got to go outside long enough for a potty break. So we finally started to think maybe we should find a better home for her. We found a woman who had a fenced in yard, lived alone, and already had a dog for naobi to play with. She also had a daughter that she kept a few days of the week at a time. I’ve never been so upset over an animal before, but as hard as it was to give her up I know we did the right thing. We have already heard back about how well she was doing with the other dog, and that she seems very happy in her new home. I still miss her like crazy, but I know she will be happier there. This post is now about candles, unfortunately it is also the end.
With naobi being so good with her housebreaking we decided to loosen the reigns a bit and let her start crashing with us. Surprising to us tho it seems naobi would rather sleep in her own bed. I don’t know if it weirds her out since she never goes in our room or if her lil bed is actually more comfortable. maybe memory foam just isn’t for everyone. Maybe we should just put her bed by ours so she can sleep wherever she feels like. She is big enough for saddles anyway now, not sure theres room for her in out bed.
After much debating, and deciding Laura’s doctor was full of it about her being allergic to dogs, we got ourselves a sheltie. Keeping with our doggie Matrix we decided on the name Naobi. Actually we had planned to name her that, changed our mind to Carli, but Gav kept calling her Naobi anyway so it stuck. She is adapting to us really well. Its nice having a bigger dog for once. She isn’t too big. We won’t be needing any saddles or anything. She is just the right size. As much as I dreaded housebreaking another dog, it is actually going great. I actually dont mind taking her out at all. Its nice to get some fresh air every couple hours anyway.
If there is one thing school is good for, its brining home germs. Gavin pretty much stays sick. I’ve never heard of a kid having to miss school at least one day a week. Not only that but he brings it home to us and his little sister. This last batch of germs he brought home was extra brutal. I did my best to finish my work day on Saturday, but by night I couldnt take any more and had to leave early. My voice is pretty much gone and I can’t stop coughing. I can only hope that he will have eventually caught so many colds that he will have built somewhat of an immune system. I guess its just part of being a germy kid. A cold really is nothing compared to something like mesothelioma or something else serious.
I have been drinking a lot of tea lately, trying to give up coffee. There are just so many damn teas to try out. So far anything with fruit or mint in it is absolutely disgusting. The only exception to that has been green tea with mango. Not bad. The only ones other than that which I actually liked were the vanilla caramel black tea, and chamomile. Still plenty to check out tho. I just dont ever see myself liking any of them like i do coffee. mmmm coffee.
Laura’s first birthday is only a few days away, unfortunately I have used up all my sick and vacation hours, but Its not the end of the world and theres no way im working on the princesses birthday. I’m going to try my best to actually save up my vacation hours this year, hopefully Jen and I can come across some vacation deals and actually take a real vacation for once.
