After signing to another year long lease here we havent had much use for any mortgage lenders. I think after another year here we will be dead set on getting a house. It wouldnt be so bad if we could get the lesbos downstairs to move out. They are really weird. One is super nice, and the other is mega beeyotch. They must smoke a carton a day. Maybe we will luck up and they will get lung cancer. I kid. Should leave some nicorette on their doorstep with some anti smoking info lol.

Tomorrow is my last day off from work and we still have to paint our bedroom. Jen also has an infinite amount of pictures to hang. You dont realize how much stuff you have till you move, or in our case put it all in boxes and then take it all back out. The only thing that sucks is that if we had known we were going to be staying here we could have gotten medicare insurance while it was available from my work, even tho it is insanely expensive. At least we are freeing up a bit of cash, and hopefully we can start putting aside for a house in the future.
After a pretty stressful week of painting, packing, and getting ready to move we had a last minute decision to just stay where we are. In the end it really just didnt seem worth the cost of moving (not to mention the work) and by staying here we save around 200 bucks a month. There are a few other benefits that come with staying here as well. The apartment we live in now has already been tweaked mostly to our liking, and Gavin will not have to change schools which is a big plus. We have decided to go ahead and paint this place and rearrange everything to give it a new feel to it. I can’t wait to get the lcd mounted on the wall. Now all I need is a ps2 (still not a fan of playstation 3 ) to go with it. I plan to go ahead and take the rest of the week off tho to help unpack and get the place looking good.
Our move out/in date is just around the corner. Jen realized we could move a week earlier than we had orignally planned, which is great cause this place is a dump. I totally love the new pad. Bottom floor, tons of parking, in the back, and we are by the woods instead of a parking lot. It will be nice not hearing the blaring systems, and morons flying through the parking lot due to it being so conveniently placed between two main roads.
With the new lease also came time for us to take a look at our benefits package. With the kids already covered, we had to opt out of coverage for Jen and I as it is just far too expensive where I work. We did add vision since Jen is having trouble with her eyes, and I kept dental because Gavin and I have some wimpy ass teeth. Hopefully next year I will have either moved on to a job with a better package, or my current job will ease up on the price. Till then I will read up on medicare part d. Yep.
So I guess it is official we wont need to be looking at any real estate. Jen seems to be super excited about getting that apartment, so that is what we will do. This will give us more time to clean up our credit and work on a down payment, because I really don’t want us to get locked into a huge house payment. After seeing the apartment myself I am pretty excited too. Jen and I have viewed a ton of apartments in the time we have been together, and I always have the same feeling of “It will do” while viewing them. But this one definitely had a WOW effect. All the kitchen appliances are stainless steel and black, and the cabinets looked great. Rather than getting a 3 bedroom, we opted for a 2 bedroom with more square footage, and you can really feel the difference in space. Just the overall feel and look blows away this apartment. I was probly most impressed by the difference in window placement compared to this place. This apartment is so hard to light properly. We usually have 3-4 lamps on in the living room, and it still isn’t really bright enough. I don’t even think there was more than a kitchen light on when we viewed the new place, and the dining area was by the patio door which was just awesome. The only thing I am really worried about is moving in. It has a U shaped staircase when you first come in. It’s going to be hell.
After Jen coming up with the idea that maybe we should stay in an aparment for a little longer, she started looking for ones that weren’t a rat hole such as this, and managed to find some really nice ones. I don’t think its apartments that I hate so much as it is just this apartment complex. This place is trash. It used to be great, but thanks to the sluts in management it has really gone to hell. I even heard good things about the new place from a coworker. The price is a bit more, but by the time our lease is up we should be out of the insane, gas guzzling , car payment, so it should work out fine. We could always move into some Pigeon Forge cabins or something. That would probly get a bit expensive tho.
Well I was awarded “Store Champion” of the service department at work. It doesn’t really mean that much, but it is still nice to finally be recognized for the work I do. The 50 dollar gift certificate doesn’t hurt either. I used it for a big ass jacket for the winter. The only thing worse than being stuck working in the 100+ weather, is being stuck working in the cold, and thanks to the wonderful uniform policy where I work you either buy the over priced $60 jacket, or freeze. On a side note my wife and I are gearing up to put more time into looking at some real estate and get the ball rolling so we are ready to move out when the lease is up. So close yet so far.
The pest control people showed up…finally. I waited for fucking ever. I was expecting a bunch of bullshit when I told them we were refusing the spray, but they were actually pretty cool about it. They seemed unsure about it at first, but when I agreed to let them put the traps, they just asked that if the office were to ask if they sprayed that I would tell them they did. I don’t know why the hell the office would ask me, but whatever. At least all that crap is over with. Next week the office will probly need to check everyones fridge or something.
Today the office is planning on having someone spray everyones apartment for brown recluses. This is completely stupid considering the fact that it is one of the types of spider that spraying doesn’t really do anything. I read they can even eat other dead bugs that have been killed by pesticide, so it just makes their life easier. We really don’t want the place to be sprayed, mainly because of the baby, but I don’t want the rest of my family breathing in that crap either. They didn’t even give a time. They just said the spraying was mandatory and that you would need to leave the apartment for an hour after they sprayed.
It should be a fun day. The women in the office pretty much hate us. When things go wrong we call and try to get it fixed. Crazy I know. It usually results in them sending a disgusting, crack headed (confirmed), dumpster diving (I’ve witnessed it twice) woman who smells so bad I can hardly stomach to tell her what is wrong. Best of all she doesn’t do anything. I usually get the feeling she is just scoping out our place for something to steal later. Which brings me to another great thing about this place.
I kid you not, almost every 2 weeks or so there is a note on everyones door letting you know that the apartment staff will be coming into your apartment for some reason. There recently was 2 times they needed to come in and “check the air units”. Well the second time I actually watched the person a bit more closely. They were clearly more interested in looking around in our kitchen. They looked at the air unit literally for 2 seconds.
Then there was the bs about the dishwashers. They left one of their famous monthly notes that there was a recall on GE dishwashers and needed to “check the serial numbers” on everyones unit. The thing is tho, we complained so much about our dishwasher that they gave us a new one ( along with a new stove, and 2 range hoods ). It was a friggin Whirlpool. So my wife left a note on the door that we had a Whirlpool and that there was no reason for them to enter the apartment. But the day came and they banged on the door, and had their keys ready to enter before my wife could even get to the door. The woman insisted that she still needed to check the serial number. I bet.
The thing that pisses me off the most tho is that before our daughter was born we called numerous times to have the apartment sprayed for bugs, and not one time did they ever show up. Now that she is here and we don’t want it, its mandatory. Well we will just see about that. I’ll let them serve us with eviction before they come in here and spray that crap everywhere.
I remember when my wife and I thought that these were some of the nicest apartments in Hendersonville. I used to work with the woman that was in charge at the time, and she was really on the ball. The breezeways were pressure washed regularly, and she told us that everyone who wanted it could have their apartment sprayed up to twice a month. I remember we were really impressed, and the place looked great. In as little as the 2 years it was before we actually moved in, the new staff really let the place go to hell. Luckily we are nearly down to half a year on the lease. Hopefully we can dodge the spiders and crackheads for that long.
