Hallow’s Eve Night 1

Last night we decided to knock out some hallows eve quests and finally check out the headless horseman. I missed it last year cause I was still leveling my lock and was already boring out on the class. It was pretty fun tho a bit easy, but I did make out like a bandit. In one night I got the broom, 2 rings, and the pumpkin helm. No clue if that’s really any good, but I’m not complaining. I’m also not looking for the best diet pills, but if you are it shouldn’t be hard to find a link to some considering my page is FULL OF THEM! Ah the broom makes it all go away…so free…

Bing

After a rough week our cat Chandler is finally starting to feel better. He has been fighting an upper respiratory infection, and got really bad, to the point where we weren’t sure if he was going to make it. He wouldn’t eat or drink, actually he still isnt drinking, but at least he is eating pretty good now. He is easily the skinniest cat I’ve ever seen. He looks like he has been taking some serious fat burner, but hopefully with his increase in appetite he will start putting some weight back on. I think this sickness has left him a bit spoiled too. He is always whining for one of us to pick him up. Now if we can just get him to drink some water!

Back to Basics

With so many changes to a lot of core feral talents and abilities I really got a good taste of how confused I now am of both pve and pvp strats, and really need to take some time to refamiliarize myself with them. I also am having trouble deciding where my points are best spent. I am currently looking at maximizing my shred damage, which will also help out in pve. I think I am only 4 badges short of getting the everbloom idol, which will just be kickass.  I did a lot of back and forth and reading on berzerk vs omen of clarity and from what I can tell:
For tanking - less auto attacking to proc omen, rage is no longer an issue = berzerk
For cat pve - lots of auto attacking to proc omen, sustained damage>burst = omen
For pvp - omg burst, lol feared=berzerk

Cooldowns are currently a love/hate situation atm. While I love finally having some cds, I hate waiting on them to ready. I plan on giving rend and tear a whirl tonight, glad I saved up some gold for all this respeccing. Btw could I have any more links related to appetite suppressants? Seriously.

Tank no more

One of my guildies has recently decided to step into the world of prot tanking, and relieve me of my tanking duties. This couldn’t have happened at a better time with my new focus on dps. The best part is that ill never have to worry about a spot once we get him geared up. No more marking targets for me, no sir. I believe he is currently one piece shy of his starter set, which we will most likely finish tonight. Instances are a lot less stressful not having to worry about aggro and marking, and hopefully this will make me more interested in pve, as I need gear something serious. Tier 6 makes my welfares look like wholesale fashion jewelry. =(

Mod headache

I have recently been checking out some of the supposed 3.02 “compatible” mods, and am finding that a good lot of them aren’t really as working as they claim to be. After weeding out a lot of the trouble makers, I am left with a lot mainly mods I have previously used like xperl, bartender, and sct. The thing is tho, in my preperation for this patch and wrath I have grown a bit too comfortable with the default interface. I agree it looks like it could use some weight loss pills, as it covers the majority of the screen. I used to love all the extra info gained by using mods, but I just can’t get used to them now. With more emphasis on keeping bleeds up, I assume I’m just going to have to suck it up and get used to them again, tho I may give it a few more days in hopes that more bugs get ironed out.

Cancel buttons

Have you ever noticed how most programs have a cancel option that 90% of the time does absolutely nothing? Usually in the rare case you need to cancel the app you are installing has already frozen anyway. I even have the issue on my phones sometimes when tryin out a program. Not really a huge deal, but just about as useful as a disposable diaper. lawl

Arcane take two

My mage is coming along nicely considering how little I play it. I think I’m a bubble away from 66, which I plan on getting in some mage time tonight. For the first time the other day I stepped out of the frost tree and gave arcane a whirl. I wasn’t all the impressed, but I am now realizing just how wrong I was playing it so I’m tempted to give it another shot. The mana regen is hard to turn down, but mainly I want to test it out in some instances. After the last patch mobs are dying so fast I can hardly get off a frostbolt, and my overall dps is a joke, but hey at least I can turn peeps into baby penguins! Playing my mage really bums me out with how low I have to keep my spell detail down. I’ve already maxxed out my computer memory , and wonder whether a new video card would help. I never knew what I was missing till I hopped on my druid and cast Starfall with the detail on high. It’s hard to go back after so many destructive sparklies =(

Can I bum some Glyphage plz

I hate that they have locked one of the major glyph slots until 80. I had a nice little treo going on PTR, and was not prepared to ditch one when the patch hit. I went with both the Rip and Shred glyphs, as they seemed to be the best buy for feral so far. I let go of my Healing Touch glyph, as in the end it just didn’t seem to be worth it. Maybe I will check it out again at 80, but I really can’t wait to see what other glyphs they have in store after the expansion.

Boomkin and Back

Even after all my talk of how I was going to stay feral, when i realized that feral wouldn’t start to see its real dps potential till 75 when we aquire Savage Roar I played with the idea of going Balance until then. Of course if along the way I grew attached to the spec I would see it through. While it was nice seeing some bigger numbers in both dps and heals, I still found the play style to bit a little boring. The initial burst is pretty badass, but after all my cooldowns are blown I really felt it was a matter of refreshing dots and keeping hots rolling on myself. Tho im sure much of that is due to my inexperience with the spec, it really reminded me of playing my warlock in a way.

It didn’t take long for me to go back feral. Though they have said many times that all DPS will be more on par with one another, even if feral still comes out on the bottom it is still far more satisfying to me to charge in and rip shit up than to fire from afar. Worst case I still can fall back on tanking, and I am still working on my Mage alt as well. Now if they will just break out the spray booth and finally let us change the look of our forms. Hopefully they will keep to their ETA of just after Wrath’s release.

Ghostcrawler’s Clarification on “Competitive DPS”

When asked what exactly was meant by “Competitive DPS” GC responded with

We mean unless you are spec’d for healing or tanking, then your dps should be “close” to another class with the same gear and skill.

Or if it helps to understand the point better, our design used to be that the dps of classes that didn’t do anything but dps was much higher than the dps of classes that brought great buffs. The latter paid a “hybrid penalty tax” if you will. We can no longer guarantee your buff will be uber or that it won’t be overwritten. Therefore, if we had not made any other changes, we figured the result would be just enough classes to bring the buffs, and then stacking the rest of the raid with very high dps classes like rouges. No offense to the rogues, but we didn’t want to see every raids with 10 rogues. In short, we are no longer using the “hybrid penalty tax” design philosophy and we want everyone doing dps to dps a lot closer to each other.

Sounds like more of the same that has already been said, but it sounds better every time I read it.
