As I get the Rizr ready to ship off to it’s new owner, I thought I could use this chance to pry out another post from it, but seriously, I feel it is worthy of a quick review. The Motorola Rizr Z3 is without a doubt the best non smartphone I have owned. After having to give the first one back from a bad deal at work, I tried a lot of others while the price slowly came down. I managed to grab it for $130 on ebay, and it is very much worth the price. Comes equipped with a 2mp camera, which isĀ higher than most phones out now. The screen is a little smaller than most, but it is so clear and bright you don’t really notice it. It is loud as hell so I rarely missed any calls or messages on it. It has a micro sd slot for tunes, games, and pics which rocks. Call quality was awesome and the keypad is one of the best 10key setups I have tried so far. The battery life is insane. I charge my phones for a couple of hours before bed every day, and I never saw this one go below 2 bars.
As many good points as there are about the phone, there have to be some bad ones tho too right. Otherwise I wouldn’t have sold it…..putting aside that I am a cell junkie. As far as negative things about the phone, for me, all came down to the texting. While the keypad is super easy to feel the keys you need, and the buttons are very responsive, whoever decided to put the tiny backspace key right next to the end key should be shot. It wasn’t a huge deal for me and my nimble fingers, but I can see someone having some serious issues with that. Not so much a problem if you arent a big texter, and if thats the case you wont have much of a problem with my main gripe. The moto texting has come a good ways since the Razr V3, and does a lot better at predicting. Sometimes it even predicts my whole sentence, but when it doesnt it doesn’t even come close. It will pick some off the wall make believe word over something that is pretty common. Worse is when it predicts the entire word minus the final letter and you scroll through the options of the final letter only to see that the one friking letter you need isnt even an option! WTF! Nerve wrecking. But my number one main hate about this phone, and all other motos for that matter are when the prediction fails, and you dont notice till you are at the end of the sentence. The phone does a terrible job of sifting through previously typed words. Its slower than ass. Then you try to go back and fix where you typed used cisco and clear, clear, clear and oh shit i hit the end key and I am back at the home screen , and before you know it the phone is on ebay and you are writing a review on it to remind you of what pissed you off about it.
But aside from that, its probly my fav regular kind of phone. This phone just reminded me of why I need a full qwerty keypad. Other than that its pretty solid.
Pros:
Battery Life is great
Screen is bright and clear
Keypad feels nice
Camera rocks with 2mp
Edge Speed internet
Cons:
Moto software is still laggy
Texting could be improved on
Bad placement of clear/end keys
I was looking around for mods and junk for my new Blackjack….yes I have another phone, and I stumbled upon a few blogs that were mainly about a very small group of phones they owned. They had downloads, guides, or just little tips for select phones. I never put much thought into it before, but I think I would enjoy doing something like that….if I could ever keep a phone long enough. Maybe this will be the one. I know that means nothing lol. While I wait for my unlock code to arrive I will figure out what a succession plan plan is.
Our car has made it over a week, and aside from the few little things we still are trying to get fixed, it seems to be a really nice car. It doesn’t have any truck accessories, but that is ok, ya know….since its a car and all. The best part is we are still rocking on the original fill up from when we bought it. I am really digging the remote start too, when I can remember to use it. Hopefully this car will last us a long time. I sure as hell don’t look forward to buying another vehicle.
So i recently ended my Warcraft subscription. I realized as Laura gets older I will have less and less time during the day and to me it’s just not worth paying 15 bucks a month for something I only play at night. The farther you get in Wow it seems the more time demanding it becomes. I didn’t sell my account or anything, but Its not likely that will go back. In the meantime Jeff and I have been playing Guild Wars, which is a lot more “time friendly” and with no monthly fee it feels a lot more accessible as far as picking up whenever, rather than being “married” to the game. I don’t need any more wedding rings.
Our car buying madness is finally over….well for the most part. Now is the fun part of getting all the problems fixed. It usually takes around 5-6 months to get the issues fixed, even tho its supposed to be done in the first 30 days…but whatever. If you hadn’t seen the post on Jen’s blog about the exploding rear glass in the car we bought, it was a fun day. We took it back and got one just like it, but for $3k more. We soon realized our mistake and went back this morning to repurchase the original car, but with a replaced windshield. Now its just a matter of getting all the tiny glass shards out that were left behind, getting the idle fixed, replacing the rear speakers and headrests, and figuring out wtf is going on with the steering. Guess this will show if my new manager really is worth a damn when it comes to service issues.
As for the car buying process itself…well I am extremely disappointed with how we were treated. Disappointed but not surprised. At all. What was surprising tho is how the issue was handled when I informed a manager of my stranded wife and kids, and was blown off so he could answer his phone, then later returned to tell me it would have to wait until after his meeting in an hour and a half. Amazing. You can bet I brought this issue up to someone and I hope they fire his fat ass.
I was reading into boat donation services for a friend of mine, and stumbled upon Car Angel. Carangel.com is a non-profit company that uses cars, boats, and other donations to make videos for kids and teenagers. They’ve given away an amazing 2.4 million videos and the numbers are still climbing. They accept boats and yachts from partner charities from across America. They are very selective about the charities they serve, and you get to choose the Charity you want to benefit from your donation. So if you have a boat that you are no longer using, maybe consider donating it.
Once again I have a link for drug rehabilitation. I know it is hard to believe. Anyways, my shadow finally arrived, and it was really nice. Notice I said was. As in…I already got rid of it. It was nice to look at for sure, the problem with it was mainly that I expected it to ya know…work and stuff. It liked to freeze up, and the battery never made it a full day of normal use. The space key was a random thing, frustrating the crap out of me. Luckily the rizr I had ordered off ebay finally arrived in all its glory. Motorola saves the day again. The only thing that can pull me away from this one would be a newer one of the same, the curve, or something brand new that I cannot refuse.
Our car finally arrived. It has a bit more cosmetic issues than we were expecting, but overall it still looks really good. We found a few things that need to be fixed before we make the swap, and I am hoping they can get them done today so that we can purchase it tonight. I just want to make sure it is completely fixed first. I know the usual drill all to well to make that mistake again. We need to check out some car spoilers for it. I think that would make it look even better. It looks like Jen is already on top of that tho =)
